Emotional support for the caregiver: Helping the caregiver recognize and manage their own stress, depression, grief and isolation.
Understanding the importance of respite care and how to find it. Most caregivers are on 24/7 and rarely get breaks.
Financial guidance and protection. A caregiver’s job status can change instantly. Many also struggle with insurance and disability benefits challenges.
Incorporating the care partner into the healthcare team. The caregiver knows the patient best, sees problems first and can prevent complications and readmission if part of the team.
Caregiver personal care. Having a plan and being prepared if the caregiver becomes ill and cannot attend to the patient.
